Massachusetts Surveyors

I asked the Vice President of MALSCE (The Massachusetts Association of Land Surveyors and Civil Engineers) ‘How many surveyors are there?” He did not have a good notion of the actual number. It has led me to pull all the data available from the Massachusetts Board of Registration website. I combined the results here Surveyor Stats

We have known for decades that the Land Surveying profession is in decline. However, I am unaware of the research being performed to determine several key facts:
- How many surveyors are there registered in Massachusetts?
- What is the status of those registrants? Retired, semi-retired, public employees, private employees, etc.
- What is the career expectancy of those registrants? How many years can we expect them to be more active?
- What is the critical mass? At some point, we will have too few surveyors to meet the demand. What happens at this point is very concerning.
- How many potential registrants are there in the various firms?

While I am a member of MALSCE, I am specifically preparing this data outside of that organization. This allows me to request more personal information that I can guarantee will not be shared with others..

I fully appreciate any information that is provided.
